Plasti-Kote has been supplying automotive touch
up paints to the aftermarket since the late 1940's. If we have learned one thing
it is that the automotive paint user demands the finest quality products. The
unretouched photos below reveal the results of a series of tests designed to bring
out the best (and worst) qualities of spray paint. We went head to head with the
competition and once again demonstrated Plasti-Kote's superiority.
IMPACT AND FLEXIBILITY TESTS
To determine resistance to dents and stress.
Plasti-Kote Super Enamel vs. the leading competition.
A specially calibrated machine drops a metal weight from 30" in height onto panels
painted with Plasti-Kote T-9 Yellow Enamel and the competition's yellow paint.
Each panel is then bent 360 over a 1/8" cylinder to test flexibility.
THE RESULTS: Plasti-Kote SUPER ENAMEL proved its
strength, while the competition suffered a complete loss of film.
SALT SPRAY TEST
To determine rust resistance.
Steel panels were sprayed with Plasti-Kote Anti-Rust Primer 391 Gray and the leading
competitive rust-inhibiting gray primer. The first panel was then painted with
Plasti-Kote 367 Gloss White Anti-Rust Enamel; the second panel with the leading
competitive rust inhibiting gloss white topcoat. Each of the panels was scribed
as required and subjected to a series of accelerated tests in a Salt Spray Chamber
where the panels were exposed to a 5% salt fog solution for 100 hours (comparable
to 1 1/2 years normal outdoor elements).
THE RESULTS: No Contest! Anti-Rust enamel topcoat and ANTI-RUST PRIMERS beat the leading competitor.
